Dear All,
I am sorry to be the one to bring such sad news, but I need to inform you all that Maryze passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14.
It is impossible to say how much Maryze has done for the Pompe Community around the world. She was, and is, truly an inspiration to all who knew her. She worked tirelessly for patients around the world, often at the expense of her own health and needs. She will be greatly missed.
The funeral will be on May 24th.
I’m sorry to have lost a dear friend in Maryze, and I am sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news. The future is uncertain and unpredictable. This certainly came as a surprise to me, and I am sure many of us. We should take comfort in knowing that Maryze would not want us to focus on the sadness, but instead to remember and honor her legacy of helping others and her enormous inner strength that kept her fighting for herself and others for so many decades.
