What a wonderful weekend! On the second weekend in August, members of Pompe Germany met in Bingen at the river Rhine. It was a complete success.
Saturday began with a special painting activity under the motto “What does Pompe mean for my life?” Eleven participants gave free rein to their creativity and created pictures that were touching, surprising, and full of optimism. Despite the challenges of the disease, the works reflected an impressive amount of joie de vivre. A real highlight right at the start.
On Sunday, things got even livelier: over 20 visitors found their way to the event. Under old apple trees in the garden of a monastery, a wonderful atmosphere was created for conversation, exchange, and mutual support. There were also exciting insights: board members Thomas Schaller and Olaf Kolbrück provided a fascinating glimpse into the world of Pompe genetics—spiced with a true crime story that made the scientific material twice as exciting. Between coffee, cake, expert knowledge, and personal stories, an open, warm atmosphere developed in which tips and experiences were also shared. Everyone agreed: This weekend was enriching and left us wanting more.
